David Hockney was born in 1937 in the British town of Bradford, in the West Riding of Yorkshire.
He studied at the Bradford College of Art, then the London Royal College of Art where he graduated in 1962.
A powerfully creative, polymorphous and experimental artist, David Hockney became famous for his portraits, his landscapes and his still life studies. His work embraces a vigorously colourful universe and plays with every type of technique, from oil and acrylic, watercolour, crayon, charcoal ink, collage and lithography to photography and iPad…
In 2017, for his 80th birthday, a travelling retrospective began at Tate Britain, in London, then went in revised versions to the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
